Bukit Jugra

Have to postpone again! Eating too much of junk food, not exercising regularly and being deprived of sleep, its taking its toll on me frontal cortex! Why can't we be stupid like the rest of the mammals with half or quarter developed frontal cortex?! I wanted to go today but had to unceremoniously come back to work because of some audit report someone needed and I have AN12 training yay! Happy to finally meet my old friend the "LPARs"

Pictures to come too, after the jump. Hehe

A Famosa

Going thru my handphone to delete photos (how did I end up with 600 pictures?) I came across some nice Malaccan skies. They have the clearest bluest skies IMHO in the whole of Malaysia. Other than that scorching heat. Ahh Malacca a love hate relationship with you

Farewell Party @Vertigo

Monday, July 30, 2012 0 Comments
After declining many a parties with the office mates, I decided to throw the hat and join them for a farewell party, and also because I kind of liked the brother-sister duo. Vertigo was kind of hard to find in Mid Valley so we followed well heeled teenyboopers (the retarded KL guide mag in Corus Hotel is just bull crap, its anything but adults here) which eventually led us to gSix and Vertigo.

The waiting period was a killer and I was getting very annoyed. Close to midnight we were allowed in and after much drinking, watching office mates getting drunk, my brother at borderline wasted and being pushed aside by drunk kissing couple LOL it was disgusting to watch, mouth STD thank you very much!

Wasn't in mood to dance because the music and environment was catered specifically for young-uns with a penchant for R&B, hip hop and house. So if you're 21 and below (somehow we had some girls under that in our group which another colleague managed to sneak in)

Now the thing with the ID checker (lol thats what I call him) all dressed in black garb, already he is BLACK himself (never heard of white shirt before?!) was that he was dumb enough not to see that some guests were fooling him with fake IDs but he had the galls to stop the white guy in our group just because he didn't have his ID with him. Boo! So while my brother and him went down to get his ID from the car this Black Thing said something in my direction but luckily someone called and I didn't have to talk to him!

Overall, it cost us RM65 each and was kind of worth it. The VSOP cognac was so so smooth we had to literately man-handle my brother and wrestle him out of Vertigo. The end!

Anyways, some picture after the jump

Books on Friday

Friday, July 27, 2012 0 Comments
I went to the local weekly market in the Street Mall during lunch and bought three books for myself, Satish and a porn for my brother. haha

Tis was my good luck I came across Stardust, its always either sold out and never available at such a cheap price (RM32) even at Big Bad Wolf Bookstores. The Kamasutra thing (RM20), is just to complete a set I have of sex books; one for Arab which really translates to why Arab men are the way they are now-mentally handicapped and a doomed race. The Friedrich book (RM 32)was a nice leather bound book but smelled nasty because of the cheap pirated Indian print but hey this stuff is hard to get any where in this country and I've wanted to read it after seeing his poster in Little Miss Sunshine (the movie, people the movie!)

Wedding Hall:BOOKED

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 0 Comments
I finally managed to get a proper hall, not some Chinese school hall or Indian temple hall for my wedding. By proper I mean a convention center hall tucked in a tidy corner of KL. Of course, the rent runs by thousands instead of hundreds like it was at most weddings 5 years back. I guess pretty expensive things do happen to those who wait! Pun intended!

Not going to reveal it here until I feel like it, but some teaser for you to feast your eyes on what's to come on my wedding!

brconnect with cronjob

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 0 Comments
Getting brconnect to work for oraSID was proving to be a problem on SLES 11 VM Enterprise SP2 so after much cracking and with help from SAP team they managed to get the brconnect work with crontab!

And here's how you do it, you have to add the environment path because the user itself has its account setup by default as /bin/csh and you know crontab calls /bin/sh which also links to /bin/bash so whatever attempts I did by adding /bin/csh to /etc/crontab didn't work

~ # crontab -u orajpd -l
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - edit the master and reinstall.
# (/tmp/crontab.XXXX9uwKMZ installed on Tue Jul 10 17:35:48 2012)
# (Cron version V5.0 -- $Id: crontab.c,v 1.12 2004/01/23 18:56:42 vixie Exp $)
SHELL=/bin/csh
PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin

00 05 * * * /oracle/JPD/script

Nicely bundled in the script is the brconnect command:

export ORACLE_SID=JPD
export ORACLE_BASE=/oracle
export ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/JPD/112_64

/sapmnt/JPD/exe/brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all -f collect -p 1

Wedding Shopping

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 0 Comments
I had the most hectic weekend last week, and was running in between viewing wedding halls and shopping for my wedding clothes. It was a sad half-day shopping for my wedding clothes-paid for by my in laws and a slightly bothered looking MIL- how often do you see GUJU MIL DIL combo shopping for wedding GIFTS together meant for the bride?!! Kind of I am choosing what I want as my wedding gifts! Freedom of choice I say! I turned up a bit late but nevertheless I picked some nice stuff for myself, don't think the bride has ever had the freedom to get what they wanted in Indian weddings; unless you count my sister, a handful of my rich sister in laws..wait a minute yeah, so it's been going around..
