A trip to the Chetti Caterers in Jonker Street Malacca

Saturday, March 09, 2013 1 Comments
Remember my old post here about a trip to an unknown part of Jonker Walk in Malacca? This is a detailed follow up after 3 years. The other day, under the sweltering heat of Malacca town, my mother in law and I walked under the generous shade of the golf umbrella to the chetti shop that does the catering for my husband's families many occasions. The chetti is always hard to reach, he's either in KL or jetting off to London to cook for Indian temples there. We finally caught hold of him two days ago and decided to pay him a visit to settle pending payments. After a walk down winding back-alleys of Jonker Street we came across this wonderful haven filled with clusters of people working under the Malacca heat with humongous fireplaces and gigantic woks. Indeed it was a sight to behold. Impressive, yes. Interesting, yes. Truly Malaccan, indeed yes.

Haircut @ Malacca

The length of my hair was getting into my head and my favourite hair saloon in Banting was closed so today when I was cycling back home I came across this classic hair saloon run by this Chinese lady in her 50s so I stopped by and did my hair there for dirt cheap; RM 18 which included wash and cut and blow dry but since the weather itself was hot enough for my hair to dry as it is I opted out for blow dry service. And boy does my head feel lighter

Nasi Lemak

This nasi lemak I had when my father in law was still living, like 2 years back and by chance today as I passed by the mechanic that was holding my husband's Mira-like car I stopped and decided to buy one nasi lemak. It brought back memories of my childhood when I used to cross the road every weekend mornings to buy nasi lemak packets for my family. It may have appeared that the same vendor may have migrated to Malacca; the taste and smell of it is so uncanny. I asked for sambal and cucumber but she was kind enough to add a vege which tasted really good. Ahh food with memories. And I finished it off with a regular Slurpee

Removing snap.do from Registry

Wednesday, March 06, 2013 0 Comments
Snap.do being the retarded grand daddy of malware and spyscam, I decided to do a bit of Googling around to getting rid of it for good, it kept infecting both my IE and my Chrome. So I did a search in my registry for the words "snap.do" and "snap" and proceeded to delete them manually

Awdware as good because it gave me a pop-up notepad list of suspected virus and spyscams, and when I clicked on OK button, it rebooted and gave me another notepad result of deleted regkeys and stuff;among viruses
I get a result stating my regkeys are clean!
Then I went on this link--http://malwaretips.com/blogs/snap-do-toolbar-removal/
downloaded Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner (both free) and run a scan on my laptop to get rid of snap.do for good. Although I think awdware did a much better job than Malwarebytes; it just couldn't find the snap.do reg files (in a quick scan)

After a good reboot snap.do appears to have died. Amen
