Spring Rolls Reviews

Saturday, September 14, 2013 0 Comments
I bought two type of rolls from the Chinese vegetarian restaurant at the Bukit Cina roundabout and they both fared well after deep frying. They cooked fast and the Vietnamese rolls had an exceptionally nice crispy texture

The salad roll had mostly corns, a handful of shredded carrot and mayo filling

I absatively loved the Vietnamese rolls, the yam filling was thick and sweet, and the skin was crispy to the bite

The purple yam filling came out while I was deep frying it so be careful when you fry these babies

Black Pepper Coated Mock Chicken Curry

Monday, July 01, 2013 0 Comments
Ah, I had the privilege of having amazing spice mix that constantly allows me to roll out these simply delightful dishes. So today after ransacking deeper in the drawer I found packet of black pepper meat tempura coating powder which the husband had brought from his recent weekend trip to Malaysia. So I decided to fry the chat potatoes and mock chicken in the powder mix and they turned out pretty well I must say. I was too lazy to prepare the sauce to cook the chicken with so I opened up a packet of ready made paste; all I had to do was add 400 ml of water, boil the peanut flavored dry tofu, add in some pre-fried, water drained cut tofu pieces into it and when the peanut flavored dry tofu had cooked well, to add in the paste, the mock chicken and potato pieces. Overall, it turned out quite well although I must say the curry was a bit watery so I added in some coconut powder. Easy, tasty and a filling dinner

Home Made Dishes

I mixed some sauces and made the tofu dish, but the others I took from recipes and altered it here and there abit. After the jump....

The base; I didn't check the fridge but here instead of Chinese Cabbage leaves, you can use Salad leaves (Romaine would do damn well)

Fried Goose, one batch got overcooked and I had to throw it away

Goose marinated in lemon-mango sauce, Priyu;s favorite dish

This was my own creation. I used 3 type of sauces to get the flavor right. I loved this dish. Tofu in red sauce

Dinner on New Year

For New Year, since Priyu came back I made 3 dishes. Lemon-mango duck (Priyu's favorite), sweet-sour chicken and duck-princess spicy sambal. I loved it all! I used all mock meat.
